Newbern, TN - THU APR 09 2008 1412 The NWS says it best:
"...probability of relatively discreet storms -- indicate potential is
increasing not just for tornadoes, but for a few to become
significant/damaging..." What does it mean? Well... a new tornado watch for West Tennessee and our listening area is a possibility, meanwhile, these dangerous storms will be entering into our area over the next few hours (area being: MO bootheel, WRN KY, WRN TN, NE MS, ERN AR). Daytime heating we have experienced today, combine that with our dewpoints in the middle 60s, and the given wind shear (noticed the wind outside lately?) is fuel for the fire that's to come this evening. Needless to say, stay tuned to Eagle973, SL100, Oldies 1450AM/101.7FM and your NOAA Weather Radio for details and updates on this severe weather event that is to unfold this evening. Now is NOT the time to be scared, but the time to put into action the plan you have for severe weather, or at least figure out what you would do in a severe weather situation. Keep in mind, tornadoes are hard to spot after dark, so when the warning goes out, take cover and put into action your severe weather plan! Get into the basement, shelter, out of the mobile home or car, and into somewhere flat, interior walls, etc. Don't know what to do?
Newben, TN - WED APR 09
2008 2142 The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center puts us in a moderate risk category for Thursday afternoon through Friday morning due to the approaching storm system from the west. Bottom line is, expect a possible severe weather outbreak, includes long-tracked tornadoes, very large hail, and of course, damaging winds. Currently, an area of low pressure is forming over Iowa, and a dryline will trail this low and push its way into the midsouth tomorrow afternoon, bringing us a squall line with the destructive winds, hail and tornadoes. Some supercells could develop out ahead of the cold front in the afternoon and evening hours, as well as individual bow echoes ... simply put, long-lived tornadoes all across the region are possible, according to NWS computer models and forecasts. We advise you to keep listening to the Burks Broadcasting Stations throughout the day and evening for complete severe weather coverage. This is not an attempt to scare you, this is your heads up to be aware of the fast changing weather that will be moving in. Thursday is going to be a busy day. Make sure your severe weather plan is in place now! We'll update you on the air during the day on Thursday, and here on the site. BT |
| This blog is not intended for you to make split-second decisions about the weather. Simply stated, it is for your entertainment and informational use only, and the author only offers an opinion and makes his own judgements, as a forecaster would. Always monitor local radio stations, television outlets and NOAA Weather Radio for the latest weather conditions and updates. If you do not have a NOAA Weather Radio, visit the Wal-mart or another electronics stores to buy one. Every home should have one, just as if it was a smoke detector. We prefer a NOAA Weather Radio with built-in FM tuner, so you can monitor SL-100, Eagle 97.3 and Oldies 1450 AM / 101.7 FM... but that's just us. :oP |
