[STATE BUYOUT]

Tennessee state officials hope to save millions...if 2,000 workers accept the buyout plan going out to people in the mail today. The plan is supposed to save the state more than $60-million dollars, including cash incentives based on length of service. Employees would also get 18-months of health insurance and 2-years free tuition at a state community college or university.

[BAPTIST MEMBERSHIP]

The Southern Baptist Convention is recommending that churches start culling its membership rolls of people who are consistently absent. If every Southern Baptist church purged its membership rolls, the denomination would go from being a 16-point-6 million member denomination to just a little more than 6-million...possibly weakening the political influence of the country's largest protestant denomination.

[TN STATE PARKS]

To compensate for declining attendance...park officials want Tennesseans to consider its 53-state parks...including: 6-resort parks with inns, cabins, restaurants and golf. Attendance at the resort parks were low but steady as gas prices rose over the last 2-years. Summer begins Saturday and travelers can check out a new feature on the state park web site called "Less Than One Tank Trips."

[CARDINALS]

THE CARDINALS TAKE A NIGHT OFF TONIGHT.
