[TN BANKRUPTCY, TRN]

Tennessee continues to have the highest bankruptcy rate in the nation. The TRN reports A Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation report states the rate of personal bankruptcy filings in Tennessee during the 1st quarter of 2008 was more than double the national average with predictions for even more filings next year. Neighboring Georgia and Alabama ranked 2nd & 3rd, respectively.

[PENAL FARM PLANTING, TRN]

THE HIGH COST OF PURCHASING AND MOVING FOOD IS MAKING TENNESSEE INSTITUTIONS TIGHTEN THEIR BUDGETS. The Volunteer State's Correction Commissioner says the states prisons are working together...growing Vegetables best suited to their locations and sharing with other detention centers. THE TRN ALSO SAYS Trucks that already carry prepared food to the prisons will be used to transport the produce between sites. To help bridge the gap...some school systems are raising lunch prices next fall.
