Armed Forces Day Celebration at The Veterans' Museum in Halls is a must-not-miss event this year.
Featured guests at the Saturday, May 17th event are:
Tennessee National Guard Adjutant General Gus Hargett, Jr. of Nashville and native of Lauderdale County.
WWII B-17 pilot and the last pilot to fly the famed "Memphis Belle," Lt. Col. Robert F. Little of Dyersburg (Army Air Force).
A-7 jet pilot and the last man to fly the A-7 exhibited at the museum, Capt. Kenneth A. Richardson of Orange Park, FL (Navy, ret.)
Lt. General John G. Castellaw, a native of Crockett County, helicopter pilot, and on active duty with the Pentagon (Marine Corps).
This gathering will bridge the generations of pilots from WWII to today. The first 50 WWII veterans to register inside the Museum will receive a memtento of their service.
Reveille will be sounded at 10 AM and the welcome at 10:30. Other events will be:
WWII military reenactments, 11AM and 2PM
Young and old alike may sit in the A-7 cockpit. Tickets $5.
Military vehicle exhibits.
Karaoke ocntest from 2 to 4pm. Cash prizes for first and second place winners.
Good food all day.
Museum admittance fee, $2 per person; 65 or older, free.
