INVESTIGATORS ARE LOOKING INTO THE CRASH OF A SMALL PLANE THAT TOOK A LIFE YESTERDAY. WBBJTV REPORTS JOEL PENNINGTON OF HENRY COUNTY WAS KILLED WHEN HIS ULTRALIGHT AIRCRAFT CRASHED NEAR PARIS AROUND 10 AM. PENNINGTON WAS CROPDUSTING WITH THE AIRCRAFT WHEN IT CRASHED JUST NORTH OF HIGHWAY 54. WEST OF PARIS. PENNINGTON TOOK OFF FROM THE HENRY COUNTY AIRPORT SHORTLY BEFORE HE CRASHED.

Authorities in New Madrid County found the body of a 31-year-old man Monday. From KFVS-12, Kayfern Williams of New Madrid had been missing since Saturday. As of right now, authorities are investigating this as a homicide. No foul play suspected.

Also from KFVS-12... Spring turkey hunting season began yesterday, but Missouri Department of Conservation land will be closed to hunting for most of this season, because of high water. According to a Conservation Department District
Supervisor, this is the first time in his 18 years with the department he can remember such drastic action. He reports that according to law, you cannot take wildlife near flooded areas. It is a safety issue for both the hunters and the animals.

Economists are becoming more convinced that the economy is headed for its first recession since 2001. Thirty percent of the economists surveyed by the National Association for Business Economics now believe the economy will shrink in the first half of this year.

The price of a barrel of oil has spiked again, topping 117 dollars a barrel in Asian trading. This, as the latest Lundberg Survey finds the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline has risen 16 cents in the past two weeks. Triple-A reports Tennessee's average price at 3-38.

Thousands of emergency officials are involved in a statewide earthquake drill this week because there's a chance a major earthquake could hit a nearby fault in our lifetime. By coincidence, the drill follows Friday morning's earthquake that was centered in Southern Illinois, but felt all across the state.


In Sports...

Seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong finished his first Boston Marathon in 2 hours, 50 minutes, 58 seconds. Boston was Armstrong's third marathon after running New York twice. He finished 496th.

In the minor league, the Birmingham Barons scored early in the first and third innings to lead the Diamond Jaxx last night. The Jaxx picked up only one run in the game in the fifth, the Barons scored three more times in the night to finish up the game at 6 to 1. The Jaxx pick up at game 3 of the 4 game series at home tonight starting with first
pitch at 7:05 at Pringles Park.

From the National League, the Braves sat Washington down with a 7 to 3 final score. The Cubs beat the New York Mets 7 to 1, and the Cardinals took the 4 to 3 win over the Brewers Monday night with Skip Shumaker's RBI double. The Cards back in action today with the final game of the two-day series. The on-deck show begins around 11:30 on Oldies 1450 AM and 101.7 FM. First pitch is at 12:05.
