THE CITY OF TRENTON GETS A ONE-POINT-TWO MILLION DOLLAR BUILDING. REGIONS BANK
GAVE THE KEY TO ITS FORMER BUILDING NEAR COURT SQUARE TO THE CITY. THE BANK
MOVED ITS TRENTON OPERATIONS TO A LOCATION ON THE 45 BY-PASS. THERE IS WORD THAT
THE BUILDING MAY BE USED AS A NEW LIBRARY.

A bill backed by the Bredesen administration has been rejected that would have
made meetings of the Tennessee Judicial Selection Commission public. Some
lawmakers want to consider changing the makeup of the panel to minimize powerful
legal interests.

Deadbeat moms are more common with judges often giving custody to fathers. Plus,
ordering moms to pay child support. D-H-S says they've intercepted 20,000 tax
refunds totaling $26-million dollars from parents owing money, and expect to see
that figure double. A Department of Human Services rep says they're eyeing
federal rebate checks and expecting to collect another $20 million in Tennessee
in unpaid child support in the coming months.
