CARUTHERSVILLE, Mo. - The Humane Society of
Missouri is rescuing dogs and cats from the flood-prone Caruthersville area of
southeast Missouri. According to KFVS 12 dot com, for the second time in three
days last week, dogs and cats had to be removed from the Caruthersville Humane
Society. 48 dogs, 16 of them puppies, and 18 cats were removed. Humane society
officials say that in many cases, owners gave up the pets because of the flood
threat. The animals will be housed in St. Louis and put up for adoption.
