More Arrests In Gibson County Drug Busts
WBBJ TV REPORTS MORE ARRESTS WERE MADE IN GIBSON COUNTY IN CONNECTION WITH A DRUG BUST THAT BROUGHT IN THOUSANDS OF PRESCRIPTION PAIN KILLERS. LAST WEEK, POLICE SEIZED MORE THAN 4-THOUSAND HYDROCONE TABLETS IN TRENTON AND CHARGED STEVEN BELL OF GREENFIELD WITH POSSESSION AND INTENT TO SELL. THIS PAST WEEKEND, OFFICERS ARRESTED BELL'S WIFE PAULA AND HIS SISTER-IN-LAW BRANDY CHANDLER. BOTH WERE ARRAIGNED IN WEAKLEY COUNTY COURT YESTERDAY.
OFFICERS TELL CHANNEL 7 THEY'RE STILL SEARCHING FOR BELL'S BROTHER-IN-LAW PAUL. HE IS CONNECTED WITH THE SAME CASE.


Feds Extend Benefits For Unemployed Tennesseans

Jobless workers will get a 13-week extension on their unemployment benefits...Under new legislation signed by President Bush, a new bill will affect approximately 50,000 Tennesseans. The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development says the legislation provides that the federal government will pay 100- percent of the costs to extend unemployment benefits. Those who are eligible will be notified by mail.

DNA Samples Required From All Violent Criminals

A new state law requires every person arrested for a violent crime to provide a DNA sample...The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Police say criminals are often repeat offenders. People arrested in violent crimes in the Volunteer State are now required to give a DNA sample. At least two samples are kept on file at the TBI for future reference. If a person is found innocent, their DNA will be deleted from the database.

Food Contaminated, May Be In Your Fridge

The nation's biggest traditional grocer urges customers to check the ground beef in their fridges and freezers...The Kroger Company has issued a volutary recall of some ground beef products in more than 20-states, saying the meat may be contaminated with E. coli. Symptoms of E. coli infection include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, vomiting and fever that can potentially be deadly. Tennessee health officials urge you to thoroughly cook hamburger and wash your hands with warm water and soap, when handling food.
